What Is Coaching?
|
Coaching is a process that helps determine:
- Where you are...
- Where you would like to be...
- How to get from here to there.
|
|
Coaching is driven by questions that help you discover needed insights.
- You are expert on your life...
- Your coach is the expert on asking you the right questions so that you discover how to move forward.
|
|
Coaching is action oriented.
- You decide on the actions that will move you forward, and how you would like to be held accountable.
- Your coach provides the accountability to keep you moving forward.
|
|
Coaching is different from Therapy or Counseling.
- Therapy says, "What is broken, and how can we fix it?"
- Counseling says, "Tell me your problem , and I will give you advise."
There is place for both Therapy and Counseling. However, even though coaching may at times deal with the past, and may include some occasional advise, coaching is different.
- Coaching is not primarily interested in fixing the past, but rather dealing with the present and changing the future.
- Coaching is not about getting advise, but is more about discovering and listening to your own advise.
